well kind off free

* 100MB webspace
* a hell of a lot of bandwidth
* PHP 5.2.9 & MySQL 5.0.77
* FTP access
* mail() enabled
* GD & zlib
* no posting required, simple signup
* short domain: dhost.info/username
* No ads on your pages
* all for free!!!

yes this does have a database!

but.. there is 2 problems

1. takes a while to get
2. 100MB webspace :(

but it is free

so go to http://dhost.info/ and click sign up

the have an accept or reject system so you may want the site description to appeal to them

Then about 2 weeks later you got a Dedicated-host!

i like this because this is satisfactory for tribal wars private servers
im not sure about an active forum

For a website or forum, 100Mb of disk space is rather puny. Just consider, if you're running a website, the ammount of images you'll have if you have 100+ pages (large website). And if you have a forum, people will be uploading images and posts which all take up realitively small ammounts of space, but still -- over time it builds up.

A webhosting package like what you're talking about here is perfect if you're wanting to setup a small online file server, host a portfolio or resume site, or test some scripting or sample sites. -- Anything large scale however, such a large forum, WoW server, or something of that sort -- you're going to need advanced hosting.

Flozz: I'll be outright and honest with you -- I don't see this as a guide or tutorial, and really a bit more like spam. I won't be deleting the post or hiding the link, but please contact me ahead of time if you plan to make similar-styled posts in the future.

As good an offer it is, that's not a dedicated server. For it to be a dedicated server, you'd need full access to the server (SSH), and you'd need to be the administrator. Not something that's going to happen for free :P

And as Flozz later found out - they don't allow hotlinking images, lol.
