Step one:

Go to the first page of the thread who's name you want to change, and click on the original post... The original post will be marked with a number one to the top right of the post's content area -- as circled below in Yellow...

Once you're looking at the original post -- click on the edit button (circled above in red). Note: If the original post is not yours, you cannot edit it.

Step two:

Once you're editation window has appeared (meaning your post has transformed into a box where you can type additional information or edit existing information, click on the "Go Advanced" button to the lower left of the Editation Window -- shown below in Yellow.

Step three:

From your advanced editor window, you can change the title of the post -- as seen in the image below where I've highlighted a word that I could replace if I chose to do so... Originally, the title line for that message said "temp title/subject line"

All of that said and done:

Click on the red "Save" button, just as you do after editing any post, and all will be well.

Dude, the arrows make you look like a ········.

Edit: By the way I tested this, your usergroup rules for default users must have the ability to change thread titles disabled. The reason it works for you/Tom/Donaters is because the group rules are different. The only thing following this does is change the specific Title of the post.

I wasn't trying to look like a ········, and if I came off that way I apologize, I've removed them, they were merely meant to emphasize that the part most people miss.

However, I know this does not come down to usergroup rules, as I made an entirely new user account just for this test... I registered with a new email, waited for the account activation and everything, just like normal. No adminstrative tampering of any kind took place. You can note the (now deleted) "Regular User" Username I was logged in under in the first picture.

I don't know what to tell you dude, I followed your directions EXACTLY. So there's something up, I've never had the problem before on a vB boards.

I just tested again, on http://infohub.me/showthread.php?t=282 As you can see on the first post, the title is different but when you look in the thread list or on the title bar of the Browser, it doesn't work. Tried in Opera, Chrome, and IE. I do not use FF.

I don't know what the deal is because none of this stuff is linked to IP, and that's the only thing that hasn't changed.

But I'll offer this simple service and see if it works.

If you want a post title edited, but cannot get it to work, I'll be happy to rename them for you. Simply PM me the thread link and Title Change.

I want to note I don't actually want anything changed, I was checking.

I understand that... I was testing to see if my offer of service would work -- it will, but not through this tutorial's method it won't... Which made me think "perhaps its because the threads all have replies" so I renamed this one, and it worked...
