So my PS3 has a problem, which is a pain in the behind more than anything else. From what I can tell, the OS on my 320GB HDD for the PS3 is corrupt, causing the PS3 to just hang on the start screen and you get to stare pretty wavy lines.

I know it's just the HDD with the problem and not the PS3, because I put in my old 60GB which I had left untouched and everything worked honky dory.

For now I've put in my old 60GB HDD to have a functioning PS3, I don't honestly think I can do anything about my other drive, which is harsh because all kinds of save games on there. I was in a console mind set with the PS3 and just figured I didn't need to really back up what HAD the saves itself. *sigh*

If you have ideas or anything, let me know.

While you can't save the saved game data, You can save the over-all functionality of 320GB HDD by plugging it into your computer either through an onboard SATA and attempting to allocate the harddrive. It'll act funny and most likely refuse to do what you've asked, but the fact that you've made an effort to access the files should force the PS3 to format the drive the next time it's re-inserted.

If you're asked for a bios or update file upon format, they can be downloaded from the playstation website - a simple google search for what the format dialog prompt tells you that you need, should turn up the right result.

Well for now, the 60GB HDD puts my PS3 at fully working functionality and up to date. So I'm keeping the other HDD around just in case I discover something or something new happens that allows me to recover the files.

I had actually already connected to my PC to try and get info off of it, but PC wouldn't see it other than unallocated space and it would need to be formatted which of course goes against what I wanted to do at the time.

I haven't tried this yet, but it looks like it could be useful!
