In lieu of a real news post, I've decided to take just a moment and talk with you guys about advertising on infohub.

As it stands, many of you have other sites/communities/businesses with which you're involved - and some of you have opted to share those sites with us or share us with them (which we appreciate).

However, I would like to ask that all of our users mind the Spamming Guidelines laid out for them on any sites where they might be thinking of advertising. This means that whether your wanting to advertise here, or advertise us somewhere else -- be aware that you're not breaking any guidelines in doing so (for example, it would earn a bad reputation for not only your account to spam us to another site, but it'd make us look bad as well).

Since we (the administration) have not yet felt the need to finalize a full set of rules seeing as the community is very well self-managed, there may be some confusion about what is and is not considered to be spam here on infohub.

For this reason, I'd like to spell out my personal view on Spam, which will serve as an acting guideline untill Tom and I can find the time to discuss a joint standpoint:

Not Spam:
I do not consider links to personal pages on a shared domain (such as deviant art accounts, yahoo profiles, myspace pages, or any other sort of personal site) to be spam - but I do ask that if you put a link to it here on infohub, you check and see if it is okay for you to put a link to infohub on the site, in order to create a good linking system both from and to the site. You are free to post such links as needed in related posts (such as links to your deviant art account in an arts post), but refrain, if possible, from using links in your signature (as no one likes seeing "click here to see my ___" all day).

Spam/Possible Spam:
I DO consider links to a business site, a portfolio site (not including deviant art accounts, or other shared domain artistic profiles), or any other links to self-promoting interests to be spam. This means that I will not sit well with you posting links like "Hey come check out this website" or "Visit website.place for all the-".

Please understand that there is a difference between a one time reccomendation that is slipped into a post "Oh, well if you're thinking about buying a PSP, you should check out web.site - that's where I got mine" (which I can find allowable), and a re-occuring, "Oh yeah, hey, you should visit web.site man, that place is great."

If you think you might be spamming by accident: Consult me directly through email, PM, or instant message, and I'll let you know whether or not what you're doing co-incides with the guidelines.

If you'd like to advertise with us: Something may be able to be arranged depending on webtraffic to what you're wanting to advertise, as well as the content/nature of the site. For instance, if you're wanting to promote a personal business site, which is respectable in its content, Infohub would love to be affiliated with you, and perhaps we could work out an aggreement where you place a banner on your site, and we can do the same -- or whatever sort of agreement we come up with -- monatary support is always welcome, but will not buy your way into allowing you to promote a site that's overly questionable in nature (ie, we will not link our members to porn sites, or things of that sort).

Special Advertising: Assuming you'd like to advertise a site that infohub could affiliate itself with and not destroy the image of being a family-appropriate community - there may, both in the future and in the present, be special mediums in which your advertising could be seen - for instance private WoW servers, Minecraft Servers, Internet Radio/Television, Printed Media, etc. All of these are venues that are currently being explored.

So.... i couldn't advertise "My First Meth Lab" on Infohub? What has happened to the world.

On another note, IT IS MY TRIUMPHANT RETURN!

Hm... I'm just gonna stick this here even though you said to PM/etc... Har har, I'm such a rebel! >:P

So like, I recently posted a link to what might be someone else's business/portfolio site, but it was just for entertainment purposes for anyone who might have been curious about the animator of that one U2 song in the Poetry and Lyrics forum. I think it's okay, but I just want to be sure, just in case.

Also, welcome back, ArthurDentures! :D

You will always adress me as one of these six options,

"Count', " Mr. Dent", "Sir", "Overloard", "My better", or "Beech".
