Sounds really simple ive done it at least 5 times on virtual machines and fends computers.
but on mine i have partitioned the hard drive made a 10gb unallocated space (minimum is 3) and then put in the xp disk and it said it could not find the hard disks. i then made the unallocated space into a partition still didn't work.
I am try to install windows xp sp2 downloaded from infohub 1.0.
i am juat going to try an see it linux sees the drive.

If your windows XP disk isn't seeing the hdd - it could be because you're failing to load the hdd's SATA driver. Use LastXP Version 22 or find the OS Driver Install Disk that goes with your SATA hdd.

If it's a Windows XP SP2 install disc, it shouldn't be that it can't find SATA HDDs. That was part of the benefit of the updating XP installer is that you didn't have to load up drivers separately for SATA devices.
I was thinking it might be that it's not enough space for the Windows XP install, till I remembered that we're talking about XP and at the most you only need 1GB.

Not to be defiant, by any means, but I've been having to load SATA drivers for the majority of PCs untill I updated my installer to SP3. The SP2 disc still gives me the all to familiar option to load SATA/RAID drivers. Perhaps there's a different version of the disc, which would not be too terribly unlike Microsoft in the slightest, but who knows. I know my SP2 disc still installs IE6 - while as my SP3 installs IE7, so if your SP2 contains IE7, then chances are, you're using a more up to date disc than my SP2 (which I've yet to be bothered to re-download).

The bit torrenting site of your prefference. I'd use ISOhunt if you could keep from having your page highjacked -- but if it's not worth the hassel -- torrentbox works good. If you don't have a demonoid account, I can provide you with an invitation code.

Well damn, I had no idea there was more than one official XP SP2 CD(Besides Update edition, and the difference between like Home and Pro. Good job MS, Good job. -_-
I don't usually install XP anymore, but I have a Corporate version fully updated to Sept 2009, except for some reason without WMP11 and IE8.
Both of which are fortunately non-essential tools with easy-to-obtain substitute programs, which I believe are better ^^

True enough, I like WMP11 though....when it works.

I, once again, would reccomend LastXP Version 22 -- seriously... Name a program you love -- and you can have it installed on the computer at the same time the OS is going in. To make that better -- it places all of the drivers on your PC for you -- and with as many computers as I've put it on, I've only ever had ONE device it couldn't find a driver for (some way offbrand USB thing).
