Any of you play any f2p or p2p MMOs? I generally go for cutesy Asian stuff, but it's hard to find good enough games to stick with. I still jump from one game to the next regardless.

I just finished the OB for Champions Online. That was pretty cool, barring the graphics. I pre-ordered Aion at the beginning of the summer, so I'll be able to start playing a little earlier than others before commercial release in a couple of weeks. Aion's a game I am totally sucked in for, so if anyone plays it, lemme know. I Skype/Vent with other players on a regular basis, and it's always great to have new people on board.

I'm looking forward to some other games on the way... APB (All Points Bulletin) the most. You guys should check it out; it's a big MMOG project from the creator of GTA. They're registering protential CB testers, so hopefully I (or someone I know) will get into one.

So now that I've geeked out for a couple of minutes, let's see if any of you catch my drift and have any games to gab about. :D

I've done Flyff and a bunch of the other Overly Asian MMOs, but I think my next MMO experience will be going back to WoW after the next expansion is released and I can host a private server for it.

unfortunatly JRPGs are loads of poo covered in poo drizzled in a delicate poo sauce and served with a side of -you guess it- poo.

Matter of Opinion, really. I enjoyed Goonzu, or whatever it was called, untill the economy in it went haywire.

Don't make me add yet another word to infohub's censored list.

Our goal here is to be family appropriate and you're disturbing enough as is - so if you can refrain from making progressively worse impressions on our new members, I'll refrain from tracing your IP address and mailing you a box of napalm, okay? lol

Pretty enthusiastic take on the JRPG scene, Art. xP I'm partial to what Korea churns out. Never been an FF person, so I can't say that JRPGs are a staple of mine.

I think I played Goonzu a while ago, or maybe not... I've played so many martial arts MMO games, I get them confused. I did beta for Flyff but never stuck with it. Actually, I often wonder what it is about the MMO scene that keeps me coming back for more. I've never played a game that impressed me enough to obsessively grind and participate. ...Oh wait. That's called 'casual' gaming, I guess.

I play Tales Runner, a cutesy foot-racing game. I used to rely on it during my breaks while I was busy with freelance work. I haven't done much on it lately, but I think it deserves to be mentioned among my favorites. Despite having a commercial Chinese account for Aion, I've been bumming around for a couple of days on the NA servers for OB. ...Grind, wipe, repeat, right...? I think I'll be playing Aion for a long time to come. ESPECIALLY since I've never leveled my characters past 25 because of the caps and time limits for CBs.

Going through the 'newbie' motions again and again is boring, though. Why do I do this to myself? Oh well.

Never played WoW. ...Something about the fan base.

I'd seriously consider playing WoW if someone cared to show me how serious the roleplaying servers are. I don't want to walk around, kill some monsters, get some gold, buy some gear, kill some more monsters, get some more gold, buy better gear, kill some stronger monsters - that's generic, and I've played far too many games like it.

Oh yeah, you can also forget me letting a pre-pubescent American kid shout at me for not standing in the right place.

Yep. Definitely a matter of a ridiculous fan base. I'd never consider playing WoW for--well--any reason, but that's the number one.

I've never really been into actually role playing on MMORPGs... I think I enjoy the quest, grind, repeat because of the friends I play with. ...Oh, and I like cool armor and weapons. You gotta burn to earn that stuff!

The thing I dislike about that is that once you attain the highest possible level, skills, equipment, whatever, the game quickly becomes very boring. You no longer have anything to play for - perhaps you can help some lower-level friends, but even that, too, begins to become tiresome.

That is why I prefer actual roleplaying - always something new, always something entertaining.

My biggest problem with WoW, though, is that you have to pay a regular fee, plus some other expenses, just to grind - something you could easily do in a free game and have just as much fun (or lack of it).

I like the cutesy Asian games too, even though they tend to have a sick, twisted grind. I usually don't play too far into them though because looking nice is not enough to hold my interest.

That's how it usually is with Free-to-Play games, but for the games that require subscription, there's usually content (I guess you can call it content) beyond quests: PvP. I'm not really a PvP kind of person though because of how competitive and ridiculous people can get in that kind of setting. ... I say that, and yet I plan on playing Aion, which is largely PvP based in higher levels. XD

As for the role playing aspect of WoW, I hear the role players very involved and really stick to their characters, but griefers tend to tool about in the designated RP WoW servers. I've never played the game though (not my style), so that's just what I've heard.

Bah. Same here... I always end up regretting the cash items I so foolishly buy to look so fly. :(

Even though I know I probably won't be playing a few months down the road, I do these things. I think it's a classic case of the proverbial: If there's a will, there's a way.

And so the ends justify the means. Sigh!

I'd like to point out that WoW can (and WILL!) be played through free private servers. I'll be hosting one again as soon as two or more of 3 conditions make them selves available... Condition 1: Cataclysm Expansion comes out. Condition 2: I get faster internet. Condition 3: I find some way to host it from infohub instead of my home PC and a Dynamic DNS Address of can afford a dedicated server (thinking of setting up a WoW server fund to raise money for the re-release of the Magrathea Private Server (the server I always host)).

I pretty much agree with Tom.
The only reason i've ever played a MMO is because of roleplay or because a friend nagged me until i so foolishly started playing.

I played the demo of WoW, wanting to join a PvP/Roleplay server, but unfortunatly there aren't any servers that have people with more then two brian cells who imerse themselfs in a character, AND the ability to fight the Horde or Alliance and have duels.

So i was very sad face.

I've played most of the f2p mmos out there, From Maplestory to Shaiya. The only one that stuck for a long time was Maplestory, but then that got boring. Right now, I'm stuck on the US Dragonica Open Beta. http://dragonica.thqice.com

Dragonica is a really cute and entertaining game. I uninstalled it after a month or so because I was tired of the sporadic beta times and wipes... That may have been unfair of me, especially since I'd love to play it casually. I'll just wait for alpha because all the yo-yo beta crap was getting on my nerves.

Whaaa, you uninstalled it? The last time we played, it was the final version of the game.

(Maplestory was hell.)
