I'm fairly certain that I have absolutely no idea how to host an IRC server, let alone host one remotely from the same server as infohub... And as far as Ventrillo goes, I'm fairly sure Tom has told me once before that in order to host Ventrillo we'd need a Windows Server - which infobub simply is not.
We can get a proper Ventrilo server when it becomes a little more financially viable.

Which is to say: Donate to Infohub today! $10 gets you the donator status, and $15 gets the super donator status. Anything beyond that and I'll send you a hand written thank you letter, a thank you card, and a promise to show you around North West Florida if you should ever come visit, lol. Simply include an address for me to send it all to.
It's $5 for Donator status.

Yep. If you should manage to come to Escambia or Santa Rosa County - I'll show you around, take you to the beach, show you around Fort Pickens, and, dependant on the ammount of the donation, might take you out for fast food.
For every donation of $40 or more, you'll also recieve a gift bag of assorted candies upon your arrival, lol.

Setting up an IRC server is kind of complicated, and not really something you'd want to do. I don't know what you're using to host the website here, but if you can't really host a Vent on it, you probably can't host a proper IRC server either.
What you could do, that is much simpler, is find one of the networks that already exists and have a channel on it. If you're interested in something at all like that, let me know and I'll help you out as I have experience with that.

Actually, I laughed. But let's not get in a habbit of posting this sort of thing, or in the habbit of slandering my hypothetical character.

Back to the IRC discussion at hand, you wouldn't really want to host your own local server. If you had the server to do it on YOU COULD, but that would be silly and opens up a whole potential can of worms.
Instead you'd want to go to a pre-established network like Darkmyst (http://www.darkmyst.org/?page=index). Now they're mostly for RPing and Games and stuff, but they welcome any type of community and they have rules for decency and such and are a legal place.
I'd recommend them personally because I'm already on that network with two channels that are part a NWN2 RP community, so I know the place and how it works. There are countless other Networks you could join, it's important to make sure you can register your channel and nicks so you don't have complete chaos. Stay away from places like EFnet or IRCnet.
