No review yet, just letting everyone know I'll most likely be disappearing for a day or two due to Fallout 3 related circumstances.

...I'll help out with that review.

Standard Edition: Pretty Good, with complaints towards the end.
Game of the Year Edition: AMAZING, AWESOME, and ummm.... AMAZING!

Whats the difference between the game of the year edition and the standard game? I have the standard on ps3 and don't think that its all that bad so far.

Without giving anything away about the possible endings... The difference is that in the standard version, the game ends. Despite what path you take, the game ends at the conclusion of the main plot line. With the Game Of The Year Edition, not only is the max level raised from 20 to 30, and you get a lot more areas to explore, quests to do, and weapons to slaughter with -- but you end up a game which has open ended game play --- meaning that the game doesn't just END. You can always continue on.

Is there any way to make my game open ended, even though I don't have GOTY edition?

Davy doesn't have a PS3, or at least he didn't the last time I checked --- YOU'D HAVE TOLD ME IF YOU GOT A PS3, RIGHT DAVY?!?!?! I'LL BUY YOU GTA AND GIVE YOU A BT HEADSET! I need someone who can challenge my sniper skills :D

Anyway: No, PS3s, as of yet, are arranged in a way that is completely unmodable. Sure, there used to be a way to rip and play ISOs through Linux, but not long ago an Update removed that ability. And if you refuse to update your PS3, a lot of games will simply refuse to play as many newer have firmware dependancies that will require you to have accepted the updates. And you can completely forget about online play.

Do want.

You have a bluetooth headset don't you? You used it when we played GTA IV (I think I remember you using one, anyway...)

Oh, I understand... I hope you're not too bummed out about it. If you are, I think I know what might cheer you up...

This is a poem that's helped me through a lot of rough times...
Never Gonna Give You Up,
Never Gonna Let You Down,
Never Gonna Run Around,
&
Desert You!

Never Gonna Make You Cry,
Never Gonna Say Goodbye,
Never Gonna Tell a Lie,
&
Hurt You!

I hope I've helped. :D

Broken Steel is successfully installed, but I've had trouble with the game randomly crashing, has anyone else had this problem? I tried to find a pattern to the crashes in order to help discern cause, but no luck so far. I bet it would crash left if I wasn't running below half of the minimum RAM though. I may have caused it when I created a custom detail setting through INI manipulation.

Your best bet to avoid these random crashes is to start a new save game. I realize this sucks if you're already a little ways into the game - but consider it this way: Now you can approach things differently then you did the first time around.

Well, I've been playing a while now, and my character is up to level 13. Fallout 3 could possibly be the best game I've ever played. I just finished Operation Anchorage, and I have to say that the support AI for the strike team I assembled was retarded. I was much more effective alone than with my team, so I made sure they all died.

I've actually been playing it more than all my other games. I love it but i can never get enough ammo for my chinese assault rifle, which is my favorite gun. I have to tell you about this man, I wandered to the north of your starting position and followed a group of renegade soldiers whom were impossibly strong and would probably kill me at once, but when i followed them from atop a rocky hillside i saw them run into a floating robot called Mr. something... i forget its name... but that robot massacred them and i stole their weapons, I couldn't wear the armor because i had to train, but then I died later from some walking crab things.... dang it was awesome though

Fallout 4 should be multiplayer ala Borderlands. So hot.

Anyway:
Renegade Soldiers - Brotherhood Outcasts?
Floating Robot - Mr. Gutsy?
Crab Things - HAET - Mirelurks?

You will learn to HATE the Chinese Assault Rifle the very moment you fire your first shot from the Lincoln's Repeater. THAT is an amazing gun.

All of you are wrong. Harkness' unique plasma rifle is the best weapon besides the tesla cannon. ENERGY WEAPONS BABY.

Boxofit

From start to now, the baseball bat is my best weapon. Next is scoped .44 magnum, and close third is the Gauss Rifle.

Vicious88

I tend to lean towards the alien weaponry (specifically the disintegration rifle), and backup on the Plasma Rifle for humanoids and small enemies, and the Gauss Rifle for killing off verti-birds and super mutants.

Of course, I can't really get over my tendencies to fall back on the sniper rifle for the sake of infiltration.

By far though, the mines appear to be the least used weapon category in my arsenal.

I like to place a frag mine, then bust a cap with my .44 magnum, and then laugh as things run straight over my mine trying to get to me, and after weakened by the mine it's time for the baseball bat to shine in V.A.T.S.

ArthurDent

Pfffft. Energy weapons.

Give me a nice rifle, some nades and a switchblade and I'm more effective than anyone, anywhere with energy weapons.

Boxofit
05-29-2010, 01:48 AM
*sigh* You all obviously don't understand just how awesome the baseball bat is. It once survived a swing from Chuck Norris (Note he wasn't swinging with the intent to break), that explains why you get it at 50% condition.

ArthurDent
05-29-2010, 02:14 AM
I'll have you know that on my third play-through I used nothing but the baseball bat until level 8.

Then I used nothing but the nades i stockpiled for a while.... good times....

Vicious88
05-29-2010, 04:47 AM
With the proper amount of luck in VATS, you can successfully swing the bat at an incoming grenade and have it blow up in your face!

J.L Hunter
05-29-2010, 03:02 PM
eh, since i'm only a few minutes into the game so far the chinese assault rifle is my favorite. Davy, I havent had the privelage of gaining the baseball bat but i do find the police baton to be quite usefull.

ArthurDent
05-29-2010, 03:14 PM
Actually, you pick up the baseball bat while you're still in the vault. You should have one...

*Sniff* My poor Anchorage strike team, they seemed to disappear due to strange missile blasts to the backs of their heads. Oddly enough my missiles were disappearing at the same rate as my strike team members.
