I've started this thread to allow users to share some of the ways they've found to save money during these hard times.

I'll start with a few of the basics Rita and I try to do around here...

~Filter my own water - instead of buying lots of bottled water.
~Open windows and blinds - instead of running the AC and lights all day.
~Use rechargable batteries - this one helps a lot
~We buy groceries more than we go out to eat (this has probably saved us the most money)
~Avoid "single purpose" drives when it comes to shopping or running errands. By doing as much of the running around as we can in one day, we save a lot of money on gas.
~MagicJack - it's not perfect, and it does require my computer to stay on all the time, but it's still way cheaper than home phone service.

~Be anorexic - You will only need to buy a fraction of the food a normal person would buy
~For those who have pets, install a cat door, and teach your cat to crap in a neighbors year - this saves money on cat litter
~Unplug your clocks at night - this will save you money on electricity, and will help you get more sleep.
~Borrow your neighbors tooth-brush instead of using your own
~Use duct tape to attach sheets to the windows - this will drastically reduce your heat bill
~Put water into nearly empty shampoo bottles and shake - this is a trick the shampoo companies don't! want you to know! This is the key to FREE SHAMPOO! :D
~Use yesterdays newspaper as toilet paper! - Toilet paper is expensive for what it does, so why not stop using Newspapers for only one thing, and start using them as toilet paper!
~Pee in the shower - You waste three gallons of water when you use the toilet to pee. Multiply that by the per-gallon charge from your local water company, and you will understand how much money you can save from peeing i nthe shower.

I hope this has been helpful! :D

Rita says "No." Simply "No." I understand the factuality of your statement, but Rita is REALLY resistant to this idea, lol.
